Relevant Ordinance

• The Chinese Medicine Ordinance (Cap549) was enacted in 1999. It is currently the major part of the legal framework on regulating Chinese medicine in Hong Kong. This Ordinance imposes regulation on Chinese herbal medicines and proprietary Chinese medicine.
• The Public Health and Municipal Services Ordinance(Cap132) imposes regulation on medicines including proprietary Chinese medicine on whether they are suitable for human consumption and affixing of false label.
• The Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance(Cap138) imposes regulation on drugs containing any western medicine as ingredients
